Abstract
With the development of electronic technology, LCD display gradually becomes the mainstream way of visualization. In the LCD display system, the display controller is one of the core components. In order to reduce the cost and satisfy the demands of different specifications of LCD and different display application requirements, the display controller must be designed to be more configurable and reusable. In this paper, we propose an implementation of the configurable display controller IP core based on SOPC system. This display controller can not only realize different display resolutions and different input data formats configuration, but also support multi-layers displaying and blending operation, dithering function and gamma correction. The whole functions of the display controller are described by the Verilog HDL language and tested on the FPGA board DE4-530. The experiment results show that this display controller can achieve an expected displaying effect, and its flexibility and reusability allows it to be applied to different display requirements.
