Abstract
A solution is presented to obtain torque smoothness of a brushless DC drive within a wide range of speeds. As the V/sub NNo/ voltage disturbs the currents during commutations and as, in the case of disjunctive EMFs, the limited loop bandwidth of the current controller does not allow the currents to follow the adapted reference, a compensative and a predictive term have been added to the duty cycle controller output.<>
