Abstract
Summary form only given. In the past few years, cascaded /spl chi//sup (2)/:/spl chi//sup (2)/ processes have been extensively studied and several device designs have been proposed to optimize the nonlinear phase shift (NLPS) of the fundamental beam. Here, we present an alternative approach to these designs by introducing a phase-mismatch (PM) distribution related to the evolution of the amplitude of the second harmonic field generated with the considered PM distribution, during the propagation of the fundamental beam at a given input intensity and wavelength.
