Abstract
The authors have proposed a novel adaptive antenna for VHF band of which aperture utilizes the vehicular rear defogger. The defogger is also used as the shared aperture by providing several ports on it. In order to operate it as the adaptive antenna, one port is used for the output port while the others are connected with the variable reactance. It is known as the ESPAR antenna. For fast adaptive beamforming, downhill simplex method in which correlation coefficient between the reference and the received signal is maximized is applied.
