  • Abstract
This paper presents the prototype of a new conceptual electromagnetic induction-based fluid heating appliance using an efficient series capacitor-compensated load resonant high-frequency IGBT inverter with phase-shifted PWM and power factor correction schemes. Its operating characteristics in the steady-state are illustrated and evaluated on the basis of its computer simulation and experimental results on a 10 kW breadboard appliance. Promising cost-effective appliances for electromagnetic induction-type fluid-heating in pipeline systems are proposed for an induction-heated boiler, a super heated steamer, a hot water producer, a hot gas producer and metal catalyst heating for engine exhaust cleaning applications
