Abstract
In spite of the clear bandwidth advantages of optical technologies, current commercial multicomputers are still designed exclusively using electronic interconnects. This is due, in part, to the manufacturing complexity of existing optical interconnects, as well as architectural designs that are optimized for electrical rather than optical technology. We present the design of an optically interconnected multicomputer that addresses both of the above concerns: the optical interconnect is easily manufacturable and the architecture is designed around the capabilities and limitations of optical technology
