PROJECT HAWK: An innovative introduction of practical learning and entrepreneurship in engineering education

There are millions of engineers in India, and million more gets added up to this pool every year. But how many among them are really “engineers”? How many amongst them, never got a chance to prove themselves in the field of their interests? How many of them had an intuition, but could not follow it because they couldn´t find the right kind of people to guide them at the right time? And how many more who couldn´t find the right motivation to pursue their dreams? Imagine how our world would be if all this stack of “real engineers” were able to live and fulfill their dreams. In our paper we will be presenting to you an idea of a new culture corroborated by an online platform that will help in implementing our concept in the most effective manner. We will introduce a new arena where students get an opportunity to experience the corporate world, a new online space where all the engineers, researchers and students across the world meet for a purpose, a platform where they can start up a research with people across the globe, few mouse clicks away from joining as their research partners. A place where anyone, no matter what stream they are from, no matter what degree they have in hand, can start a research or learn their subjects of interest.
