Abstract
A new technique to solve the network reconfiguration problem in distribution systems is proposed in this paper. The goal is to minimize active power losses without solving any load flow in the optimization process but ensuring the radial configuration and other realistic constraints. A linearized model is adopted and new concepts associated with the network connectivity are introduced
