Abstract
This paper presents the Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing setup and results for a DC-AC resonant inverter used to power a train linear induction motor (LIM) used in urban transit applications. While the inverter is based on the LLC-type resonant converter as it possesses much lower component stresses compared with the conventional series and series-parallel resonant topologies, EMC performance needs to be evaluated to meet industry standards. Electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) is a major challenge in the inverter design process in the transportation industry. EMC test results shows that the inverter is qualified against the EN50121-3 standards for revenue service purposes.
