MPEG-2 compliant trick play over a digital interface

With the introduction of disc-based digital video recorders, consumers expect similar trick play modes to those found on analog tape-based systems. When the digital video recorder plays back over a digital interface it must produce trick play streams that comply with the format for the normal play streams. In this paper we propose a low complexity algorithm to generate trick play streams compliant with the MPEG-2 standard.
