  • Abstract
    The state of the art of high voltage switches that can be used in a crowbar is discussed. TVS are chosen like one of the most suitable devices. The crowbar based on TVS and supplied with dependent triggering circuit gives simple, reliable, and cost effective decision for additional protection of the load against damage under breakdown. The Crowbar is complete system containing high voltage switch, auxiliaries, current sensor and start-up unit to control and monitor the switch. It can be recommended for the application in any HV power supplies with long distance transmission lines to the load.
