Abstract
Summary form only given. Recent work at UNLAX has led to a detailed understanding of the operating mechanism of certain types of polymer LED. This understanding has led to significant improvements in performance for these devices. We discuss the factors which lead to lower operating voltages and higher device efficiencies. We will discuss the use of polyaniline as a very efficient anode material to give reduced operating voltage and higher current density. We will also report the design and implementation of new polymeric carrier-transport materials.
