  • Abstract
We use dissipativity theory to propose a generalization of the Input Admittance Criterion - a widely used stability criterion in the railway industry. We investigate the theoretical implications of proposed changes to EN 50388 (Chapter 10) and show that the proposed changes are the most robust (and most conservative) among a class of similar stability criteria. In particular we show how stability can still be guaranteed even if the criterion EN 50388 (Chapter 10) is not met in practice - and in the process generalize the Input Admittance Criterion. We highlight the connection of the generalized Input Admittance Criterion with related problems in systems theory - viz the Nevanlinna-Pick interpolation problem, and the absolute stability problem.
