  • Abstract
    Recently, a 42 V electrical system has been proposed for vehicles. In the near future, it is expected that the 42 V power net system is widely used in automobiles. This paper introduces the development of intelligent switches and the design of a high efficiency ripple carrier transmitter for 42 V power net system. An intelligent switch is a device that interconnects the electrical devices to the power line. By using power line communication technology and the intelligent switches with the proposed carrier transmitter, different electrical devices in 42 V automobile can share the same power source and communicate with each other over the battery power line. The intelligent switches can provide a number of intelligent control functions, such as on-off control and detection of device failure.
