The European project DIABCARE-quality network

The DIABCARE Working Group was launched to further the target of establishing monitoring and control systems using state of the art information technology for quality assurance of diabetes health care provision. For this purpose the group developed the standards of a data set and of the relevant quality indicators. The clinical partners of the DIABCARE Consortium are, in their own countries, responsible for the evaluation and dissemination of the developed tools (DIABCARE Data for Windows, DIABCARE Fax System and others). The adaptation of each tool and the fine-tuning of them have to meet the needs of their own country. The implementation will be in clearly defined patient and practically orientated stages taking into account the different health care environments in different European countries, and the different levels of health care.
