Abstract
In this paper we propose the combination of a dialog system with a resident tracking system as a way to improve the available services, usefulness, and functionality of the smart home. Several services which are made possible by this combination are highlighted. The need of a resident tracking system and its advantages are explained. Several implications of the proposed approach are discussed.
