Abstract
This paper discusses the performance of the adaptive matched filter (AMF) in impulsive clutter backgrounds modelled as a spherically invariant random process. Three different techniques are used to determine the weights of the adaptive matched filter. It is shown that a self censoring reiterative approach for calculating the weights results in robust performance for a large class of clutter scenarios ranging from highly impulsive clutter to Gaussian clutter backgrounds. Performance analysis is presented in terms of the output signal-to-noise-ratio of the AMF.
