  • Abstract
    In this paper, we introduce a new solution to analyze performance of Space-Time Block Coding (STBC) under Rayleigh fading channels for CDMA multiuser environment. We consider a typical downlink CDMA system with N transmit antennas and M receive antennas. We derive a new expression of BER for STBC and compare it with conventional maximum ratio combination (MRC) technique having M*N diversity order. We find that STBC provides not only the same diversity gain as MRC, but additional coding gain. So STBC has better performance than MRC when taking the near-far situation into account
