  • Abstract
There are close relationships between traffic volume and transportation volume. The resources and basic data in the traffic volume observation station can be effectively used in calculating the transportation volume of the highway network with that of the highway section. This can help to increase the timeliness of the statistical work of the highway transportation volume and effectively avoid a lot of waste of human, physical and financial resources, etc. for the OD investigation in the transportation volume site. The specific way is as follows. First of all, calculate the traffic volume of the specific spots in using the investigation data through the existing traffic volume observatories. Secondly, introduce the maximum entropy model for calculating the OD traffic volume matrix in taking the factors like highway classification and traffic volume in the regional highway network in to consideration; and at last calculates the estimation value of transportation volume through the OD traffic volume matrix, the OD distance matrix and the average actual load rate. According to the case analysis of the survey data of one county in Harbin city, the fault bit of this method in calculating the highway network freight transportation volume is 14% and it shows the feasibility of this method.
