Abstract
Presents a method for the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from arbitrary shaped three-dimensional imperfectly conducting and thin coated objects, excited by an arbitrary primary source. The problem is formulated in terms of equivalent electric and magnetic surface currents over the object´s surface. An integral equation formulation is utilised and the concept of the impedance boundary condition is used to simplify the formulation and reduce the computation efforts. Its use relates the tangential components of the electric and magnetic fields through an impedance factor which is the geometry, material and frequency dependent. This is equivalent to expressing the equivalent magnetic surface current in terms of the equivalent electric surface current. As a result, the number of unknowns is reduced by one half which is a major advantage in reducing computation time and memory. Computed results are given for a sphere and spheroid and compared with the Mie series solution and with the integral equation formulation for bodies of revolution
