Abstract
A new Terahertz generator is proposed which is based on pulsed photo-assisted field emission of electron bunches into vacuum involving space-charge limitation effects. This space-charge limitation of the emitted electrons enables the use of lower cost laser or led pulsers. Limited experimental verification has been obtained with ballistic electron transfer in equivalent semiconductor structures.
