  • Abstract
This work introduces a conformal finite difference time domain method to accurately and efficiently study photonic crystal (PC) devices such as PC cavities and waveguides. An absorption boundary known as a perfectly matched layer (PML) has been implemented and tested. The results show that the PML can work very well with PC structure simulations. These capabilities will facilitate the simulation and design of PC based systems.
