Abstract
In this paper classical and advanced measures to upgrade the efficiency of the GSM network are presented. Effects of power regulation, slow frequency hopping, sectorization and discontinuous transmission are shown. Relationships between some measures to improve quality and cochannel interference are emphasized. Modern way to increase the number of users by spatial division multiple access (SDMA) and single antenna interference cancellation (SAIC) are explained. Characteristics of SAIC systems are given which in the future applications will decrease the spatial reuse distance the most critical parameter to achieving high overall spectral efficiency
