Abstract
Multicore processors are dominating the scene of computing, and have provided a way to keep improving performance while circumventing the power as well as the memory bandwidth wall. The IBM Cell Broadband Engine is a heterogeneous multicore which as been designed with high throughput in mind. This paper explores its applicability to data processing, and reports the performance results on some important radar processing algorithms. Initial results are very promising and highlight the disruptive potential of this technology.
