Abstract
Reflector antennas using mesh typically exhibit multiple quasi-flat facets arranged with a regular lattice on the radio-frequency reflective surface. Under certain conditions, this is prone to generate high level sidelobes, called faceting lobes. This paper investigates some deterministic ways to reduce the faceting sidelobes of mesh reflector antenna by applying phyllotactic arrangements to the supporting net of the mesh reflector surface. This nature-inspired arrangement is derived from a spiral pattern with a Fibonacci sequence and is known to be irregular.
