Abstract
The use of coupled inductors is now a typical approach to decrease the current ripple in multiphase power converters. Minimizing current ripple increases efficiency, while coupled inductors support a fast transient performance at the same time. This paper proposes a new approach: coupling of inductors between the different power converters with independent outputs, to decrease current ripple and improve efficiency. This method effectively extends benefits of both multiphase performance and coupled inductors to the single phase solutions.
