  • Abstract
This paper presents modeling and simulation study of a fuel cell power system for ships. The paper reviews the ship´s current power system and its limitations. A detailed discussion of the issues associated with integrating fuel cells to ships and power conditioning systems for fuel cells to overcome the limitations is also presented. A model of the fuel cell and an energy storage system to mitigate the fuel cell´s slow dynamics is developed and described in the paper. Simulation results of the performance of this system are also presented.
