Abstract
Bipropellant-powered hydraulic free piston engine (BHFPE) is a new type HFPE, which takes advantage of bipropellant in place of conventional fossil fuel, and employs catalytic ignition instead of spark or compression ignition. Under the alternative drive of the left and right combustion chamber, free piston assembly (FPA) within the BHFPE moves Linearly back and forth between left and right extremes and pumps hydraulic fluid to drive load. Different from crankshaft engine, owing no crank-Link mechanism, the motion of FPA depends entirely on forces that acting on it. Based on introduction of the basic configuration of the BHFPE, the working process and features were described first, and then mathematical models are established as well as simulation of dynamic characteristics are carried out.
