Abstract
In this paper, we propose an adaptive resource management scheme for end-to-end image transmission over wireless channel. Our goal is to minimize the total system energy consumption according to varying channel conditions and input image characteristics. In our proposed scheme, system resources are allocated among source coder, channel coder, and transmission amplifier. Moreover, unequal transmission protection, which provides by channel coding and transmission power distribution, is employed in terms of various sensitivities of compressed image data. Experiment results show that our proposed scheme can significantly save the total system energy consumption than the equal transmission protection schemes with the same system constraints.
