Abstract
Voice over IP (VoIP) has become very popular in recent years. Different coding, error and compensations schemes have been developed to increase the number and quality of voice connections over IP networks. This research work is an investigative study to find out maximum number of possible voice calls supported by quality of service aware IEEE 802.11e and basic 802.11 WLAN standards. Apart from quantitative capacity analysis this paper provides simulation study of differences of queue management at medium access layer between IEEE 802.11 and 802.11e WLAN standards.
