Abstract
The movement towards a cleaner, more efficient Smart Grid has now become an avalanche in many countries, with governments allocating billions to the cause, and utilities reconstructing how they do business after decades of inactiveness. Residential Demand Response (RDR) has been shown to significantly reduce peak energy demand. In this paper, stage by stage strategies towards a DR´s end product of transactive market which could be useful to South Africa are identified. These are categorised short, medium and long-term strategies.
