Abstract
We propose a new compact long period fiber grating (LPFG) fabricated using the photo-elastic effect and a heat-shrinkable tube. Our proposed LPFG consists of an optical fiber, a screw and a heat-shrinkable tube. The temperature characteristics of the LPFG are investigated experimentally and reveal the feasibility of its use a temperature sensor.
