  • Abstract
The delivery of streaming media as Linear Television and Video on Demand contents over converging all-IP infrastructures has been a main purpose in adapting the 3GPP standards for Next Generation Network through ETSI TISPAN and are reected in the so called Release 2 of this specication. To meet the demands of high quality video streaming an architectural framework, standarlized signaling for IPTV and protocol specications making use of the 3GPP´s idea of a IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) have been developed in this context. This paper will focus on the components necessary for the provisioning of resources for these kind of services including media signaling, media adaptation (transration and transcoding) and ideas for shared media experiences allowing the synchronous and parallel consumption of media and telecommunication services. Additionally a reference platform namely the Fraunhofer FOKUS Media Interoperability Lab and a prototypical IPTV media server implementation will be presented.
