Abstract
This paper presents Cross Layer design Packet Scheduling Architecture (CLPSA) with added two functionalities for Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) Down Link (DL) transmission. The first function is service specific queue sorting algorithms for service level performance optimisation and second function is adaptive Time Domain (TD) prioritising algorithm for network level performance optimisation. The overall aim is to improve Quality of Service (QoS) of Real Time (RT) and Non Real Time (NRT) streaming video traffic by slightly delaying Best Effort (BE) traffic along with maintaining system throughput and user fairness at good level. The results show that proposed CLPSA significantly reduces delay and Packet Drop Rate (PDR) of RT traffic while satisfying minimum throughout requirement of NRT streaming video traffic. A good trade-off is achieved between system throughput and user fairness.
