  • Abstract
Clustered DFT-S-OFDM has been agreed as the uplink transmission scheme for carrier aggregation (CA) in LTE-Advanced system, so as to extend the bandwidth up to 100MHz and increase the peak data rate. However, clustered DFT-S-OFDM signal suffers from a high cubic metric (CM) due to the large range of signal fluctuation after multiple clustered-carrier modulation. This paper focuses on the CM issue in both inter-band and intra-band CA. More specifically, the effects of reference signal (RS) combination and assignment to CM are investigated. Then, a RS selection scheme is proposed by assigning RSs of different sequence group and different cyclic shifts to component carriers (CCs) and selecting the RSs with the minimum CM. Simulation results show that the proposed scheme obtains lower CM than the conventional scheme where the RSs are randomly selected and assigned.
