Abstract
An excitation system for autonomous Induction generators supplying nonlinear loads is proposed. The presented system consists of an squirrel cage induction machine (IM) and a converter both connected in parallel. The converter has two functions, the first one is to provide the required reactive power for the excitation of the IM in order to regulate the generated voltage. The second one is to compensate harmonic currents introduced by non-linear loads avoiding in this way the circulation of these harmonics through the IM. Simulation results are presented in order to assess the system dynamic demonstrating the feasibility of the proposal.
