  • Abstract
Summary form only given. In strontium the possibility exists to cool the atoms to near the recoil limit using the 7-kHz intercombination line at 689 nm. We have built a vapor cell magneto-optical trap (MOT) to study narrow-line cooling in Sr. The ceramic vapor cell trap is the first of its kind and provides a compact maintenance-free apparatus for experiments.
