Abstract
The operation of self-oscillating power electronic systems, like other variable structure systems, involves limit cycles. Limit cycle geometry can be investigated prior to imposing a control law, and can be related to steady-state solution of asymptotic models. The local implications for switching surface selection for simple DC-DC and DC-AC converters are explored
