  • Abstract
The paper presented a microwave-based sensor to detect a shortage of cigarette bars in a tobacco box. The accuracy and efficiency of the sensor is demonstrated by experimental results. The sensor is based on continuous microwaves and digital signal processing technique. A tobacco box usually contains 50 bars of cigarette and a bar contains 10 packs of cigarette. Sometimes a shortage of bars would happen in a tobacco box, though manufacture of cigarette is highly roboticized. It can be detected accurately by the sensor when a shortage of bars happens in a tobacco box. Comparing with the method of nuclear weighing meter, the microwave-based sensor has the advantages of high accuracy, low-power, no radiation, and more convenience. The microwave-based sensor can also measure the mass of components in some substances.
