Abstract
In order to understand the interaction between femtosecond pulses and complex fiber optic taper profiles, measurement of the transmission alone is insufficient. We have developed a new technique that measures the wavelength spectrum, phase and intensity of the reflected femtosecond pulse as a function of position along the fiber optic taper, with a sub-millimeter resolution.
