Abstract
An L-Band superhet receiver scheme using Gallium Arsenide Monolithic Microwave Integrated Circuit technique has been developed for cost effective military application. The front end of the receiver comprised of a single pole double throw switch for antenna selection, followed by RF amplification, double balanced mixer and buffer amplifier for local oscillator. The first IF amplifier, which is preceded by a SAW filter, is followed by further filtering and a second high gain limiting amplifier. The design, fabrication, packaging and testing of the GaAs chips developed for the complete receiver is described.
