Abstract
In this paper the effect of the accessory in notch in bow on ship resistance performance is studied based on computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculation in respect to a self-propelled cutter suction dredger. This research finds the ship resistance performance of the ship with notch in bow changes a lot because of the accessory in notch in bow. And there is a critical angle between the accessory in notch in bow and the water plane. While the angle is greater or less than the critical value, the ship resistances have different changes with the variance of the angle. In addition, this critical angle has some connection with the ship speed.
