Abstract
This paper presents single-phase to three-phase dc-link converters with reduced number of controlled switches for usual or reduced rectifier switch currents. Those converters are composed of either six or eight controlled switches. Suitable modeling and control strategy of the system, including a synchronization method, are proposed. The synchronization method, associated with the PWM command, force the input current to have the same phase angle as the input and output converter voltages. This proposed method reduces zero-crossing distortion normally caused by the use of diodes without any hysteresis control. Simulated and experimental results are presented.
