Abstract
This paper presents a technique for improving the amplitude and phase characteristics of TEM power dividers over a frequency band. Use is made of gradient optimisation algorithms which place equal emphasis on each frequency in the specified band. Predictions and measurements are presented for a ten way stripline power divider using conventional and optimised design procedures. Significant amplitude and phase improvement is seen for the optimised design. The technique presented is applicable to any TEM power divider where the transmission line discontinuities can be accurately modelled.
