Abstract
The paper addresses the problems of designing and implementing the CORBA group component. The design of the CORBA group component adopts the service approach which implements the component as an extension service called Clone Service. This follows the CORBA philosophy that the ORB only provides a basic mechanism for interoperability between applications in heterogeneous and homogeneous environments while the basic functions supporting object implementation are provided as services. The paper also describes the structure, definition and function of the CORBA group component.
