Abstract
This paper presents an adaptive combined DFE/RSSE structure for the equalization of a channel with unknown slowly time-varying characteristics and large constellation size of transmitted signals. This structure combines the conventional decision-feedback equalization (DFE) with the reduced state sequence estimation (RSSE). Analysis and computer simulation results are carried out for 8PSK signals and confirm the superior performance of the proposed scheme to both the conventional DFE and RSSE
