Abstract
A study on the magnetic system of hybrid stepping motors in the paper argues that the magnetic characteristic of a general phase winding can be described by a family of magnetization curves of two branches of that particular winding pole path. Based on the perspective of the nonlinear characteristic of winding inductance, with the consideration of self- and adjacent currents, the rotor position, is analyzed. This leads to the correct and comparatively perfect understanding of the essence of nonlinear characteristics of winding inductance
