Abstract
This paper discusses the different effects of conducting and magnetic shields on the circuit inductance, which are of significance in pulsed power technology (PPT). The effect can be used as a generic method to guide the design of the special electrical machines called compensated pulsed alternators (compulsator or CPA) and improve the power output. With the shield technique, the internal inductance of a CPA is reduced greatly to tens of micro-henry making Possible very high current and power output when the CPA discharges. The CPA realizes a most efficient and compact pulsed power supply which can meet rapidly increasing need for military purposes and special industrial uses
