Abstract
A novel current chopping strategy for a switched reluctance generator (SRG), a full conducted current chopping (FCCC) scheme, is presented in this paper. According to the characteristics of the phase current waveform of SRG generating operation, it can generate under sensorless conditions without additional circuitry or position signal algorithms. Simulation demonstrates the feasibility of this scheme in detail. Experimental results of a 6 kW 6/4 configuration SRG shows its simplicity and high reliability with little decrease in efficiency
