  • Abstract
Summary form only given, as follows. The multi-constrict arc plasma is a desirable thermal source for welding and cutting technology because of its high core temperature and energy density. Study the electric property of arc plasma is very important to understand the mechanism of multi-constrict arc plasma. Also it is helpful to optimize plasma torch designing In this study a series experiments were carried out to this aim. The experiment system is described below in detail. The plasma torch is consisted of cathode tungsten and Laval type constrict tunnel. Water-cooled copper acted as the workpiece Power source is an invert power with well vertical descendant property. During the experiments, the cathode, constrict tunnel and workpiece were cleaned every a period of time related to the working current in order to furthest eliminate the influence of oxidation and contamination.
